John Spillane – Gaelic Hit Factory

Entirely recorded in the Gaelic language, the album features guest appearances by Justin Adams (Robert Plant’s guitarist), Lisa MacIsaac (Madviolet), Caroline Dale, Natacha Atlas, Julian Wilson and Eamonn De Barra. The album is a collaboration of three huge talents : John Spillane (singer/songwriter), Louis de Paor (Irish poet) and John Reynolds (producer, musician and writer).

Says Louis: “There was a voltage there when we worked with John and it was completely collaborative. While a lot of the songs had been recorded before by ourselves or by others, John just transformed what we gave him. His input was just incredible. “Inghean” was one of our songs that we had thought we might drop, but John liked it, and he suggested using [Egyptian-English singer] Natacha Atlas’ voice behind mine. It was just so right. We would never have thought of doing something like that.”
