Producer, Engineer, Mixer, Musician – John Reynolds. This is the new studio album from Damien following on from his hugely successful debut live album, “Live at The Olympia”. The album was entirely recorded and mixed at John’s CLEAR studio over a period of several months to allow Damien to continue touring in Ireland, UK, the U.S. and Australia. The album’s title comes from the book of the same name by Sean O’Callaghan and refers to the 50,000 Irish men, women and children sent to Barbados as slaves during Oliver Cromwell’s conquest of Ireland. The Irish were given an ultimatum by Cromwell – they could either be killed by Cromwell’s army and go straight to hell or go to Barbados as slaves on the new plantations. Damien beautifully captures this sad chapter of Irish history in the title track. He celebrates his love of his native city, Dublin, in “The City” which includes backing vocals by the wonderful Nid El Mourid sisters, Yamina and Nadia from the French band Lo’Jo. The album entered the Irish album chart at Number 2.
